The Emerald Isle is a Bird Watching Paradise Offering Some of the Best Birding Opportunities in Alaska
Kodiak Island features over 240 species of birds, including a large population of Bald Eagles often seen soaring overhead or perched along the hillsides or on the beach in front of the Lodge.
Kodiak's mild climate provides an excellent habitat for bird to thrive. Some of the common species found on Kodiak are: golden-crowned kinglets, rock and willow ptarmigan, Wilson's warblers, pine siskins and water pipits.
Ducks and Sea birds are found in great numbers including harlequins, goldeneye, Steller's and king eider, black-legged kittiwakes and oldsquaw.
Last, but not least, we frequently observe puffins in Uyak Bay – the favorite bird of many of our
guests.
