No Equipment Required – We Supply the Best Fly Rods, Reels, Waders and Flies
Kodiak Legends Lodge is fully equipped with the fly fishing industry's finest fly rods, waders, and terminal tackle (all of which we provide at no additional cost).
We proudly carry Orvis Helios rods in 6-weight (rainbows, dollies, sockeyes, arctic char), 8-weight (silvers, steelhead) and 10-weight (kings and halibut).
Orvis' Helios fly rods are the lightest, most powerful rod in the industry and redefine cast-ability of a big game fly rod. If you haven't experienced them for yourself, leave your gear and home and come up and test them out. They are light as a feather, incredibly responsive and deadly accurate.
We couple our Helios rods with “bombproof” Orvis Mirage reels, fully armored and ready to battle the tenacious fish you are sure to confront on Kodiak's wild rivers. The Mirage has a revolutionary drag system with virtually zero start-up speed and enough power to stop a train. In short, it's gear you can trust with trophy fish and, most importantly, enjoy fishing.
For waders, we carry Orvis Silver Label Stocking Foot waders and high quality Orvis wading boots for your convenience. Feel free to bring up your own pair, if you already have them, as long as they are not felt-bottom soled.
All of our flies are tied using only the sharpest and strongest hooks on the market, Daiichi and Gamagatsu. We will provide all the flies you need, but feel free to bring a box or two of your own if you’ve discovered some cool new patterns you’d like to try. If you haven’t fished Alaska, you’re in for a treat with flies – we use big, flashy, brightly colored feathers to attract aggressive fish on the prowl.

Recommended Equipment:
• Rods: Single handed (6-9wts)
• Lines: Floating, Sink Tip, Full Sinking (300 gram)
• Tippet: 6-20 lb. test.
• Flies: Our fly shop has a wide variety of flies to choose from. If you would like to bring your own flies our guides can send you their recommendations before your arrival.
