The Ultimate Family Experience – Alaska Luxury that Redefines “Roughing It” and Provides Endless Fun for the Entire Family
While many remote Alaskan wilderness lodges feature primitive lodging and amenities that tend to cater towards a “guys” fishing trip, Kodiak Legends Lodge is a different story…
We pride ourselves on providing extreme comfort and a laundry-list of unique activities designed for enjoyment by the entire family. Our luxurious lodge features exotic teak furniture from Thailand, fine linens, a breathtaking panoramic view and a fully-enclosed hot tub. Our chef will indulge you with gourmet cuisine featuring local Alaskan seafood and the highest quality ingredients available, including locally-grown Kodiak vegetables. During relaxing down-time in the evenings, relax and catch up on world events on our wireless internet or TV, shoot pool or play “Buckhunter”, our challenging hunting arcade game.
From an experiential perspective, there is no shortage of activities for the entire family to enjoy. Even if your family is not experienced at fishing, we strongly encourage beginners. Our highly experienced guides take pleasure in introducing newcomers to the wonderful sport of fishing. We would be happy to teach you and your family to fly fish, beginning with some basic fly casting sessions – and we can virtually guarantee you’ll hook a fish. At certain times during the year the salmon run is so thick that several of our guests have caught fish with their bare hands – just like a bear!
Other activities that the whole family can participate in together are wildlife viewing for Kodiak’s endless wildlife (including Kodiak brown bears, whales, eagles, sea otters and more), hiking, beach-combing, glacier-viewing and flight-seeing.
In our March 2010 newsletter we featured an article entitled Hunting, Fishing Can Be A ‘Girl Thing’ Too, that describes one of our female guests’ experiences at KLL. Deana came up to our lodge somewhat hesitantly on a trip with her husband and three other couples, but left beyond satisfied!
“This trip was one of the best trips we have ever taken,” Deana Poston remembers. “I don’t think I have ever been more relaxed in my entire life. Whether it was deep sea fishing for halibut and cod, going out in the bay for whale watching, hiking the mountains, hunting for black Sitka deer or caribou, fishing the fresh waters for salmon or trout, walking along the beach and observing the sea otters and seals play in the water, flying to the glaciers, checking out the wildlife and watching bears—or literally doing nothing more than relaxing in the hot tub or eating delicious meals—it was the trip of a lifetime.”
