The Alaska Hunting Season for Sitka Black Tail and Sea Duck
Sitka Blacktail
We primarily hunt Sitka in October though the season starts in August.
Waterfowl
October 8th- November 1st

Conditions
Sitka Blacktail
Earlier in the season deer are at higher altitudes ranging from 2000-4000ft. The lower terrain can be challenging early in the season because of the vegetation. It’s not uncommon to walk 5-7 miles to get the right shot. Later in the season the deer come down to the shoreline to eat and shooting can be easier.
Waterfowl
Hunters will setup along the shoreline or on rock islands. Here they will experience both decoying ducks and pass shooting.

“Best hunt of my life! The spot-and-stalk hunting is thrilling because the island is loaded with deer - we saw 50+ deer each day we were out. In just a couple days of hunting we shot three big 8-point Sitka blacktail bucks!”
